Ken Russell and Mark Kermode

Ken Russell, the renowned filmmaker of the 1970s,
who is celebrated for his outrageous work that defined the era, The Music Lovers (1970),
The Devils (1971), The Boy Friend (1971),
Savage Messiah (1972), Mahler (1974),
Tommy (1975), Lisztomania (1975) and
Valentino (1977), will be interviewed on stage by one of the most respected
and insightful film critics of his time, Mark Kermode,
who has interviewed other great filmmakers such as Stephen Spielberg.
Russell and his work have a particular significance for the University of Portsmouth, as one of his most successful films Tommy was shot within its boundaries. An event not to be missed for fans of Russell, followers of Kermode's work or even just lovers of British cinema, the interview will take place on the first conference evening of July 1st 2008.
